Inclement weather was held at bay this past Saturday, May 7, 2016, as partygoers and Wayne Art Center supporters alike arrived at Paramour at the Wayne Hotel to celebrate the highly anticipated 5th Annual Kentucky Derby Party out on the Veranda and in the Lobby Lounge.
Mint Juleps, G. H. Mumm Champagne, and wines by the glass were served to a stylish sell-out crowd, along with an assortment of savory butlered hors d’oeuvres such as Rock Shrimp Spring Rolls with candied ginger aioli, Spring Pea & Lobster Shooters, Teriyaki Steak Satay with ginger sauce, Sun-dried Tomato & Brie Mini Quiches, and Spring Garlic Grilled Oysters. Specially prepared sweets followed soon after with bite-size treats including Red Velvet Cupcakes, Raspberry and Lemon Macarons.
Party guests came dressed to impress and had fun flaunting their finest Derby fashion in front of the judges, but only a few lucky ladies and gents would take home the title “Best Dressed” for the Derby Contest. First, Second and Third Place winners were awarded prize options of $100 gift certificates to Jay Michael Salon, Essent Spa, and Sherman Brothers Shoes, bottles of G. H. Mumm Champagne and Elijah Craig Bourbon, and a Leather Equestrian Cuff by local designer Mack & Jane Jewelry.
As post time drew near, guests gathered around TV’s in the Bistro Bar, Lobby Lounge and out on the Veranda to watch the 142nd “Run for the Roses”. While the Kentucky Derby may be known as the fastest two minutes in sports, this party was an afternoon our guests will long remember.
Paramour and the Wayne Art Center would like to thank all of the party guests who purchased tickets to this charitable event. You helped make it another fun-filled Kentucky Derby Party and a successful fundraiser, raising $4,700 for the Wayne Art Center.
